The Little Mountain Boys, one thing for certain, it's not the boys that are little! The band name comes from the "Little Mountain" located in an area of Central Virginia known as Nelson County and Piney River, an area the band calls home.
We love and play a wide variety of Country, Bluegrass and Gospel music and are influenced by the sounds of Flatt & Scruggs, Jim & Jesse, Merle Haggard, Brother Oswald and the list goes on. Several members of the band have written and recorded original songs but all the members agree that nothing sounds better than acoustic instruments and amazing harmony.
The average age of the band is, . . . well let's just say "they know better" and leave it at that! The band has played in numerous festivals in Virginia, North Carolina, West Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania.
The band members include three brothers, T.W. Massie on banjo, Scott Massie on dobro, Mike Massie on mandolin as well as A.D. Massie on guitar and vocals, Ronnie Wood on guitar and vocals, Jeff Herring on upright base, guitar and vocals and Marsha Massie sharing base duties and vocals.
